Baghjan Fire Pose a Threat to Maguri Beel

The Baghjan fire has posed a threat to biodiversity. On Tuesday, a dead tortoise has been recovered in the Maguri Beel. The state government who announced that the Maguri Beel will be developed as a tourism hotspot has seen that the blowout in the Baghjan oil well has brought a threat to the biodiversity and if the government won't take steps to save the beel it will lead to the death of the birds and animals.

The fire at the Baghjan oil field in Tinsukia has also brought a threat to the biodiversity of Dibru-Saikhowa National Park.

Till the flame could be doused, the biodiversity will be in danger as many trees, houses have been burnt to ashes. The lives of the animals are also at risk as the fire has been spreading into the forest as well as village areas in an uncontrollable way.

Thepaddy fields in the villages have been burnt to ashes and farmers are now in adilemma as all their efforts went to vain.

Meanwhile,Maguri Beel has already been affected due to the constant leaking of oil andgas from the site since May 27 and the fire that broke out posed a seriousthreat to the lives of the animals and birds at Dibru-Saikhowa National Park.
