‘He Can’t Even Speak Proper Assamese’—BJP MLA Tears Into Gaurav Gogoi

BJP State General Secretary and MLA Diplu Ranjan Sarma has launched a blistering verbal assault on Assam Pradesh Congress President Gaurav Gogoi, accusing him of mimicking anti-India rhetoric often heard from Pakistan’s political establishment.

Speaking to reporters in Nagaon on Wednesday while attending a government programme, Sarma claimed that Gogoi’s recent criticism of the BJP and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) mirrored the tone of Pakistani leaders.

“Initially, we only demanded an investigation into Gaurav Gogoi’s wife,” Sarma remarked cryptically, without specifying the grounds of the allegation. He then went on to compare Gogoi’s statements to those made by Pakistan’s Bilawal Bhutto, Shehbaz Sharif, and  Asim Munir. “The only difference is that Gogoi has not yet directly spoken against India,” Sarma added.

Calling Gogoi “the most disgraceful politician in Assam,” the BJP leader said the Congress MP appears obsessed with the BJP and RSS. “He sees them everywhere, almost haunted by them. It’s a kind of political paranoia,” Sarma said.

Invoking a historical perspective, Sarma reminded Gogoi that in 1963, under then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, the RSS was officially invited to participate in the Republic Day parade. “Perhaps he should revisit that chapter of history, and even the more balanced views expressed by his late father, Tarun Gogoi,” Sarma suggested.

Taking his criticism further, Sarma alleged that the Gogoi family has become “increasingly viewed with suspicion in Indian politics.” He accused Gaurav Gogoi of adopting a narrative that “resembles a script written straight out of Pakistan’s propaganda playbook against the BJP and RSS.”

Sarma also questioned Gogoi’s patriotic credentials, saying, “Wherever he goes in India, cases should be filed against him. He is not even fit to utter the name of the RSS, let alone understand its ideology. In fact, he isn’t worthy of even drinking the water used to wash the feet of an RSS pracharak.”

Capping off his tirade, Sarma branded Gogoi a “traitor who now leads a tainted and crumbling Congress party,” and predicted the party’s imminent political decline. He also took a swipe at Gogoi’s linguistic proficiency, saying, “He can’t even speak proper Assamese.”
