Heatwave Grips Assam: Farmer Collapses in Field, Dies in Hospital

Amid the ongoing heatwave sweeping across Assam, a tragic incident unfolded in the Ambari area of Murajhar under Hojai district, where a farmer collapsed while working in the fields and later died during treatment.

The deceased has been identified as Abdul Karim. According to reports, Karim suddenly collapsed while working under the blazing sun on Saturday. Local residents immediately rushed him to Diphu Medical College and Hospital for emergency care.

Despite efforts by medical personnel, Abdul Karim succumbed to his condition earlier today. Following his death, his body has been sent to the Nagaon Civil Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

Meanwhile, Murajhar Police have initiated an investigation into the incident.

This case adds to the growing concerns around the severe heatwave gripping the state, raising fresh questions about safety measures for those working outdoors, especially in the agricultural sector.
