Japanese Encephalitis Claims Life of 7-Year-Old Girl in Titabor
A 7-year-old girl from the Dholi Samaguri Tea Estate in Titabor has died after contracting Japanese Encephalitis (JE), raising fresh concerns over the spread of the disease in upper Assam.
The deceased has been identified as Barsha Munda, a resident of the tea estate. According to local sources, the minor was undergoing treatment at the Jorhat Medical College and Hospital (JMCH), where she succumbed to the illness.
Health officials are yet to confirm whether the case is part of a larger outbreak, but the incident has triggered worry among residents of tea garden areas, which are known to be vulnerable to vector-borne diseases like Japanese Encephalitis during the monsoon season.
