Police Constable’s Body Found in Kalain Station Quarters, Probe On
In a tragic and mysterious incident, a police constable was found hanging inside his residential quarters at Kalain Police Station in Assam’s Cachar district early Sunday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Alim Uddin, a resident of Topkhana Part-II in Silchar. Sources said Alim Uddin had completed his duty on Saturday night and retired to his room located within the police station premises.
However, on Sunday morning, when he did not come out of his room even after several hours, fellow officers began calling out to him. After repeated attempts received no response, they forced open the door, only to find him hanging from the ceiling.
"The deceased’s brother stated that Alim Uddin never had any personal problems or extramarital affairs. According to him, Alim was also satisfied with his police job. It remains a complete mystery as to why he took such a drastic step."
The discovery sent shockwaves through the station, leaving his colleagues devastated. Soon after, the local magistrate arrived at the scene, and the body was recovered in his presence. It was later sent to Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) for post-mortem examination.
The exact cause of death remains unclear, and police have not released any official statement so far. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine whether the incident was a case of suicide or if foul play was involved.
