Assam Police Seize Rs 30 Lakh Cash, Gift Coupons from Bus in Khetri; 2 Held

Assam Police seized a large amount of unaccounted cash from a night super bus on the National Highway near Dhopguri in Khetri on Saturday morning.

The money, packed in several bundles and hidden inside a sack, was allegedly being transported towards Guwahati from Upper Assam. The bus, bearing registration number ‘AR 16 A 8200’, was carrying over Rs 30 lakh in cash.

Along with the money, police also recovered a large quantity of gutkha products and numerous gift coupons meant for distribution to consumers.

The cash was discovered during a routine check conducted by Khetri Police, who found the hidden stash inside the trunk of the bus.

Both the driver and the handyman of the bus have been detained for questioning, and an investigation is currently underway.
