The Chamber of Trade and Industry (CTI) has written a letter to the Board of Cricket Control of India (BCCI) urging the board to end the sponsorship deals with Chinese firms.

This step was taken by the CTI after 20 Indian soldiers were killed during a clash with Chinese troops in Ladakh's Galwan valley.

In the letter, CTI convenorBrijesh Goyal has written if BCCI fails to end the deal with the Chinese firmsthen Indian traders will boycott the Indian Premier League (IPL) and all otherinternational cricket matches in the nation.

On Friday, IPL's GoverningCouncil has announced to convene a meeting next week to review IPL's varioussponsorship deals due to the India-China border standoff. "Taking note ofthe border skirmish that resulted in the martyrdom of our brave jawans, the IPLGoverning Council has convened a meeting next week to review IPL's varioussponsorship deals," stated IPL.

This week fans acrosssocial media have called for BCCI to remove Vivo, a Chinese smartphonemanufacturer, as the title sponsor of the IPL.

In 2019, Vivo reserved the title sponsorship rights for the IPL for Rs 2,199 crore for a period of five years.
