IRCTC e-tickets to get costlier from September 1

Pratidin Bureau

Indian Railways has decided to restore service charges on e-tickets bought through IRCTC from September 01, making it costlier.

According to an IRCTC August 30 order, it will levy a service charge of Rs. 15 per ticket for non-AC seats and Rs. 30 for AC seats, including first class, with GST to be applied separately.

It may be noted that these charges had been withdrawn three years ago in a move to promote digital payments.

In the beginning of this month, Railway Board had approved IRCTC of restoring the process of charging service charge from passengers booking online tickets.
