18-kg gold bars worth Rs. 8 cr seized

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) on Wednesday seized smuggled gold worth nearly Rs. 8 crores from Manja area under Karbi Anglong district. According to sources, the gold bars weighed over 18 kilograms.

The gold bars were recovered from a vehicle(registration no AS-09-BS-3330) travelling towards Guwahati. Sources informedthat the gold bars were reportedly brought from Myanmar through an internationalgold smuggling racket

Meanwhile, two people have been arrested regarding therecovery. They were identified as Tari Mansur and Ikbal Hussain.
