2014-19: 219 Assam civilians Killed in Terror Attacks

As many as 219 civilians have died in Assam in the last five years due to terrorists' attacks. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Tuesday informed that during 2014-2019, 382 civilians have died in terror attacks in North-east and out of the total, 219 have died in Assam.

Answering a question of MP Vishnu Datt Sharma in the parliament, the MHA said that around 475 counter-terrorism missions were carried out in northeastern India in last five year and 12 security personnel have died during these missions. The MHA further said that around 223 terrorists have died in these missions carried out from 2014 to 2019.

The Ministry further said that Manipur has witnessed the highest number of civilian deaths due to terrorism-related incidents among these NE States. However, the Ministry said that there was a decline in terrorist activities during this period.
