Independence Day has been celebrated across the nation with utmost fervor and gaiety. It seemed like India had been tricoloured from top to bottom and right to left. Not constraining self, Assam also decorated all its corners with the three colours.

Assam being unique in its existence has celebrated I-Day uniquely. Baksa district of the state has literally draped the region with the Indian Flag. An NGO named Sunrise Youth Club in Uparkhuti has created a 3.5 km long 'Tiranga' with more than five thousand people displaying it on the streets.

The tricolor has been created in honour of Golden Girl Hima Das.

However, the sole right to manufacture the national flag of India is held by the Khadi Development and Village Industries Commission, which further allocates it to the regional groups.

With Vande Mataram written in the middle the first Indian Flag had religious symbols and eight roses on it. It was first hoisted on August 07, 1906 at Parsi Bagan Square in Kolkata.
