In yet another shocking incident in Guwahati, a three-year-old girl was raped allegedly by a neighbour at his home in Hatigaon on the first day of the New Year.

The minor girl was raped allegedly by a man who works as a mason (Rajmistri) and lived near the child's house. He was identified as Imran Ali and hails from Goreswar. The man was beaten up by the people. The man was later arrested by the police.

The girl's parents were out on work when the incident took place, informed a senior police officer. Her parents run a shop in Hatigaon.

The man was beaten up by the people. Police said that a case has been registered against him under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) Act.
