30 Illegal Immigrants Deported To Bangladesh

Around 30 Bangladeshi nationals including threewomen who were lodged in various detention camps in Assam were deported toBangladesh on Thursday.

Reports stated that the illegal immigrants weredeported through the Kalibari Ghat border check post in southern Assam'sKarimganj district after completing all the formalities. The illegal immigrantswho were deported to Bangladesh have been received by Bangladeshi authoritiesin Sylhet district of the country.

Superintendent of Police (SP) of KarimganjManabendra Debroy said that the infiltration started since 2015 and that theywere arrested for not being able to produce valid documents. The infiltratorswere nabbed from 10 districts and lodged in the detention camps of Goalpara,Kokrajhar, Jorhat, Silchar and Tezpur.

The SP further informed that the infiltrators hailedfrom Brahmanbaria, Chittagong, Comilla, Pabna, Sylhet and other districts ofBangladesh.

He said that a group of Bangladeshi diplomats inIndia had visited the camps last year and collected data on the immigrants forrepatriation as per protocol.
