4 Police Personnel Participating in I-DAY Parade Test COVID-19+

Four police personnel who were practicing for Independence Day parade at Judges' Field have tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday. On Wednesday, 9 personnel have tested positive of the virus.

Inspecting the parade ground at Judges' Field on Thursday, Kamrup (M) Deputy Commissioner Biswajit Pegu said that this year the Independence Day will be celebrated with minimum guests amid the coronavirus pandemic.

He further stated that the COVID-19 protocols will be strictly followed during the celebration.

Notably, this year the Independence Day will be celebrated at Judges' Field after a long gap as the Khanapara Veterinary field has been converted into COVID Care Center.

Assam Chief Secretary Kumar Sanjay Krishna also reviewed the preparedness of the State level celebration of Independence Day at Judges Field, Guwahati on Thursday. The Chief Secretary along with Commissioner of Police Munna Prasad Gupta, GAD Commissioner &Secretary Dr. M Angamuthu inspected the Judges Field and took stock of the preparedness and instructed to do the needful for timely completion of works, safe and hassle free arrangements of the State level programme. During the inspection, Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup (Metro) BiswajitPegu, Assam DIPR Anupam Choudhury and other senior officials were present.
