6 ANLA cadres surrender in Sonari

Six AdivasiNational Liberation Army (ANLA) cadres including two top leaders surrenderedbefore the police at Sapekhati Army Camp under Sonari on Tuesday.

Massivecache of arms and ammunitions including one .22 pistol, three .32 pistols and38 rounds of live bullets were recovered after their surrender.

The surrenderedcadres were identified as Anil Ibok (Army-Chief, Finance Secretary), DurgeswarTanti (Area Commander, Jorhat and Golaghat), Shantiyal Birjiya, Robert Tapna,Jisya Sar and Majesh Sik.

Notably,ANLA had entered into a ceasefire agreement with the government in 2012. The surrenderedcadres were reportedly involved in several warfare activities.The cadres surrender under pressure of joint operation byAssam Police, said top police official.
