AAPSU Demands Early Release of Arunachali Youths

Pratidin Bureau

Following the abduction of 5 Arunachali youths by the Chinese PLA on Friday, the All Arunachal Pradesh Students' Union (AAPSU) has called upon the state and central governments to ensure their early and safe release.

In an emergency meeting held on Sunday, the organization said that such incidents reflect the failure of the State and Union governments in ensuring security and safety of the people of the state living in border areas.

The organization was quoted by The Arunachal Times as saying, "The recent incident is not an isolated case as time and again the PLA have been repeatedly indulging in similar antics whereby innocent civilians living at inhospitable border areas are taken captive at regular intervals."

Commenting on the deplorable nature of the roads and other infrastructure in the border areas in the state, it further said, "Stop looking at Arunachal only through the prism of security; rather take a more inclusive approach of development at par with other states of the country."
