In a shocking development, anaccused has escaped from the custody of Hatigaon Police on Wednesday.Identified as Juwel Khan, the accused has escaped from the Mahendra MohanChoudhury Hospital (MMCH) premises.

According to reports, Juwel was detained on Tuesday night from Sijubari area in a dowry-related case. On Wednesday he was taken to MMCH for medical checkup, where he managed to give a slip to the Hatigaon Police.

"Necessary department action willbe taken against the policemen who had the accused in their custody," said atop Guwahati Police official.
