Pratidin Bureau

After the news of the jailed peasant leader, Akhil Gogoi being in an unhealthy state, another leader of Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) Bitu Sonowal is learnt to be unwell.

Sonowal is in judicial custody, and is in Guwahati Central Jail. He has been suffering from fever and cough since yesterday. He is also complaining of body pain.

Meanwhile, the lawyer of Akhil Gogoi has filed an application at the NIA court requesting for an update on the current health condition of both Gogoi and Sonowal.

Both the leaders, who were arrested in connection to the anti-CAA protests, are presently in Guwahati Central Jail. The news can be alarming, as several inmates of the said jail have already contracted the COVID-19 virus.

However, as per sources, both the leaders, who haven't been allowed any outside visitors for more than a month, haven't yet showed any symptoms of carrying the contagion.
