AGP-JD(U) meeting : BJP MLA criticises AGP

Pratidin Bureau

MLA of Khumtai constituency BJP lawmaker Mrinal Saikia has criticised Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) over AGP- Nitish meeting.

MLA Saikia said – "AGP is performing an emotional drama. As part of the drama, AGP visited Bihar and sometimes goes to Maharashtra. AGP should remember their past 10 ten years regime. If AGP has any problem, then they should meet Assam CM or BJP high command, not Bihar CM. AGP got opportunity to work with BJP. They also got opportunity to eradicate from sins."

On Saturday, an eight-member delegation of the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), led by former Chief Minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta visited Patna and meet Bihar Chief Minister and Janata Dal-United (JD-U) president Nitish Kumar seeking support against the proposed Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2016.

It may be mentioned that the JD-U, an alliance partner of NDA, has decided to oppose the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016. The party termed the Bill as a clear threat to languages and culture of indigenous people of Assam.
