AHSEC to introduce Agriculture as a subject in its syllabus

The Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) has decided to introduce agriculture as a subject for its higher secondary syllabus in the State.

For an introductory period, the subject will be initially introduced in 100 higher secondary schools and colleges in the state.

AHSEC Chairman Dayananda Borgohain said that the course was already being taught to Class 9-10 students in 65 higher secondary schools in the State. Now, the council has decided to introduce the subject for Class XI-XII in these schools/colleges and in 35 new higher secondary colleges in the state.

AHSEC has discussed this plan with Assam Agricultural University and have come to the conclusion that the syllabus and matter of the subject will be set by University, the Chairman informed.

Also, students who will clear the agriculture subject in Class-XII, will be directly eligible for admission at Assam Agricultural University.
