BadruddinAjmal-led All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) on Saturday announced thecandidate for the upcoming Assembly by-election. The party has fielded formerMLA Rafiqul Islam from the Jania constituency.

Addressingthe media in Guwahati, the party general secretary Aminul Islam said that theparty has decided to contest only in one constituency out of the total four constituencies,for which the bypolls are going to be held.

On the other hand, speaking on the reports of possibilities of an alliance with the Congress, the party leader said that the Congress has not proposed anything yet officially and hence they have not decided regarding the matter. However, he said that they would accept any such proposals ahead of the 2021 assembly election.
