Akhil Gogoi starts hunger strike on Uruka

Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS)  chief has started a hunger strike on the day of feasting (Uruka) at Chachal protesting against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016 with the members of the 70 ingenious organisations of Assam.

The 24 hours hunger strike started from 2 pm on Monday that would last for 24 hours.

The Citizenship Amendment Bill has already been passed at the Lok Sabhha , however the bill is yet to be passed at the Rajya Sabha.

Earlier, the peasant leader urged the people of the state to continue the protest against the bill during Magh Bihu (Bihu of eating foods and enjoyment).

He also urged the people the burn the Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016 on Uruka.
