Ambulance delay kills mother after delivery

Guwahati based Kumar Nursing Home was recently held guilty of negligence while treating a mother, who eventually lost her  life due to absence of ICU and delay in hospital ambulance. The deceased, Sabita Das of Azara Gosaipara gave birth to a girl on 21st September after which she was declared serious by the Dr Junu Moni Borgohain and said that she must be shifted to ICU as her situation went critical.

But due to absence of ICU at the hospital the women was referred to Hayat Hospital.

The family of the deceased women have alleged that the Nursing Home failed to  provide an ambulance on time which claimed her life.

An FIR has been launched at Bharalumukh Police Station against Kumar Nursing Home's Director and Dr Junu Moni Borgohain by Sabita Das's husband Dwipen Das.

There has also been an allegation against the hospital for demanding Rs 60000 to release the new born.
