Angoorlata appointed as Kalakshetra VC

Actor-turned-politician Angoorlata Deka has been appointed as the Vice-Chairman of Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra on Monday.

Angoorlata represents the Batadroba constituency of Assam. She is a first-term member of the Assam Legislative Assembly. She is one of the six female candidates who were given tickets by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), out of which, only two won elections and Angoorlata is one of them.

She is known for Bakor Putek (2012), Junda Eman Gunda (2007) and Gaane Ki Aane (2016). She has been married to Akashdeep Deka since 2015. 

There are a good number of supporting staff for maintenance and looking after the cultural institution and its various units. At present, there are a total of 101 employees in Kalakshetra out of which 15 are on a regular basis and the rest are engaged in casual or daily wage basis.
