Apollo Hospitals Guwahati performs MICS for first time

For the first time in Guwahati, the Apollo Hospitals in the City has performed Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery (MICS) on Thursday. Headed by renowned Cardio Thoracic Surgeon Dr. JP Kalita, a team of experts performed this complex surgery.

The surgery was performed on a 45-year old female patient with a hole inside her heart with the leakage of one heart valve. The patient underwent a key hole surgery through chest wall rather than conventional breast bone cutting (Sterwear) open heart surgery with a great success if the procedure, informed Apollo Hospitals. The patient is said to be recovering well and likely to be discharged from the hospital soon.

Informing about the benefits of this surgery, the authorities of the hospital said that the post-operative recovery time is very less in this surgery with less pain and minimal blood loss. Also the chance of getting infected after the procedure is also comparatively less.
