APSC scam: Govt yet to implement 2015 HC order

Pratidin Bureau

In a recent development in the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) cash for job scam, the Gauhati High Court has issued notice to the Chief Secretary of Assam for failing to institute a judicial commission headed by a retired judge to investigate into anomalies.

After hearing a petition filed by Prashant Singha, an RTI activist, Justice AK Goswami issued the notice to Assam's Chief Secretary on Friday. The Chief Secretary was asked to file a reply as to why this should not be treated as contempt of court.

Earlier, the Gauhati High court in 2015, had asked the Assam government to institute a judicial probe into the anomalies in the APSC examination.
