Army jawan from Manipur martyred in Nowshera

Rifleman Bikas Gurung was martyred in the ceasefire violation by Pakistan in Nowshera district in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday.

21 year old Rifleman Gurung had been grievously injured and later succumbed to his injuries.

Gurung who hailed from Khunka Khuki village in Manipur is survived by his mother.

According to reports, Pakistan Army initiated unprovoked and indiscriminate firing of mortars on routine Indian Army patrol, 700 metres inside Indian Territory in Nowshera sector along the Line of Control (LoC) on Saturday morning.

The attack came four days after four BSF personnel had been martyred and three other sustained injuries in a similar ceasefire violation in Chambliyal district of Samba by Pakistan.
