Army veteran Sanaullah Released from detention camp

Kargil war veteran Mohammad Sanaullah will be released today after the Gauhati High Court has granted bail on June 7. Sanaullah was granted interim bail and told to furnish bail bond of Rs.20,000.

Sanaullah was declared a foreigner by Foreigners' Tribunal in Assam and sent to a detention camp. A bench of Justice headed by Manojit Bhuyan passed the order after hearing the arguments of senior advocate Indira Jaising assisted by advocates HRA Choudhury, PK Deka, Aman Wadud and Syed Burhanur Rehman. The court issued notices to all the respondents including Central government, Assam government, defence ministry, authorities of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) and the investigating officer of the Assam police in the case.

Sanaullah has been released from Golapara detention campwhere he was kept after declaring foreigner by the Foreigners' Tribunal.
