Arunachal botanist names new flower species after former CM Dorjee Khandu

A botanist from Arunachal Pradesh, Krishna Chowlu, has dedicated a new species of flower that he discovered in 2017 to former Chief Minister of  the state Dorjee Khandu.

An official statement said that Chowlu has named the flower 'Impatiens dorjeekhanduii'.

Krishna Chowlu, who is a scientist with the Botanical Survey of India (BSI), had discovered the wild flower at a forest in Zemithang area of Tawang in September, 2017.

Calling on Chief Minister Pema Khandu at his office on June 06, Chowlu said that the flower of Balsaminaceae family – Impatiens dorjeekhanduii – was named after the former CM and his father to honour his contributions for the development of the state.
