CAB : Assam bandh brings life to a standstill

The 12-hour Assam bandh called by All Assam Chutia Students' Union (AACSU) on Monday witnessed several incidents of sporadic violence in various parts of the state.

The All Assam Chutia Students' Union (AACSU) has called for a 12-hour Assam bandh on Monday demanding the withdrawal of the Centre's proposed Citizenship Amendment Bill.

Meanwhile, the All Moran Students' Union (AMSU) has called for a 48-hour Assam bandh from 5 am of Monday protesting against the tabling of the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 in the Parliament. The students' body also demanded ST status for the six ethnic groups of the State including the Morans and to accord autonomous rule to the Morans of the State.
