Assam Bypolls: BJP Leading In Thowra, Mariani & Bhavanipur

The first big update on the vote counting of the by-elections in Assam started at 8 am in the state.

United People's Party Liberation (UPPL) is leading in the Tamulpur constituency.

UPPL candidate Jalen Daimary is leading in Tamulpur.

Congress party is leading in Gosaigaon.

BJP is leading in Mariani with candidate Rupjyoti Kurmi who earlier won the Assam Assembly elections from the Congress party.

BJP is also leading in the Thowra constituency with candidate Sushanta Borgohain more than 5000 votes. The competition is tough in Thowra between Sushanta Borgohain and Raijor Dal candidate Dharjya Konwar.

In the Bhavanipur constituency, Fani Talukdar from BJP is leading with more than 5000 votes. Earlier he won from the AIUDF party.

It may be recalled that the counting of votes started in 5 constituencies at 8 am on Tuesday.

The fate of 31 candidates will be decided today.
