Assam celebrates Mahashivratri

Devotees of Lord Shiva are celebrating Mahashivratri in Assam as well as across the country today. The festival is being celebrated with religious fervour and devotion.

Devotees are seen thronging the various Lord Shiva temples across the state. Umananda in Guwahati, Sivadol in Sivasagar, Bhairabkunda in Udalguri, Mahabhairab Temple in Tezpur and all the other Shiv Temples are flooded with devotees right from the morning.

Devotees fast and offer special prayers in the various Shiva temples during the festival.

Taking to Twitter, Chief Minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal extended his greetings to the people on this occassion.

President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi also greeted people on the auspicious occasion of Mahashivratri.
