Assam COVID-19: Death Toll Reaches 140

The death toll of COVID-19 in Assam climbed to 140 with eight new cases reported on Saturday evening. This was informed by State Health and Family Welfare Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma through his twitter handle.

The deceased have been identified as Mahan Talukdar (45), Azizur Rahman (52) both from Nalbari, Narayan Chandra Deka (54), Dulu Paul (50), Turab Ali (48) from Morigaon, Sufala Gogoi (46) from Kokrajhar, Khanindra Nath (55) of Nagaon and Prakash Jain (60) of Dibrugarh.

It may be mentioned that the Union Health Ministry in a report stated that Kamrup(M) district is among the 13 districts in India to have 14% of Case Fatality Rate (CFR) of COVID-19 which is higher than the national average.
