Hima Assam’s Sports Ambassador

Dhing Express Hima Das landed in Guwahati On Friday amid grand reception. LGBI Airport and the city as a whole had been  all decked up to receive its Golden Girl on her first homecoming.

In a felicitation event at Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra, on Friday evening, Assam Government had declared Golden Girl Hima Das as the Sports Ambassador of the state with Chief Minister Sarbanand Sonowal officially handing over her the letter at the event.

Hailing Hima, Sonowal said, that her success at the highest level has given a tremendous boost to the overall sporting sector of the state.

"Assam never had a dearth of sporting talents but we needed someone who would take our surge in sports to the next level. The excellence of Hima Das will serve as an inspiration for youngsters who want to chase their sporting dreams", he added.

Sonowal also exuded confidence saying that the Khelo India initiative has become a tremendous success. He also handed over a cheque of 1.6 crore rupees to Hima and announced to develop 500 village stadiums in the state.
