Assam: Education Minister Asks Students to refrain from Protest

Amidst therising protest across the state against the contentious Citizenship AmendmentBill (CAB), the Lakhimpur district administration has interrupted the studentsto participate in any kind of protest.

The schoolinspector and district primary education official of Lakhimpur district hasissued notice to the Principals and Headmasters of the schools and colleges notto allow any students to participate in the ongoing protests against CAB orelse the education department will take strict action against the principals.

Meanwhile,state education minister Siddhartha Bhattacharyya has instructed the schoolsand colleges that no students could be allowed to participate in the protestsagainst CAB.

Reacting onthe education minister's notification, the students of Cotton University hasstaged massive protest in the university premises against the minister byburning his effigy on late Friday night.

The ministersaid that the students of government schools and colleges will not be able toparticipate in the protests which have been protested by the Cottonians.

The Cottonianssaid that they will not accept the notification of the Education Ministerthreatening the minister that the protests will be more intense.

They alsosaid that they will burn the effigy of the notification issued by the educationminister.
