Assam registered eight more coronavirus related deaths on Saturday, taking the state's death tally to 548.

The health minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma in a tweet said, "Very sad & anguished to inform that 12 more COVID19 positive patients have succumbed to the disease."

Sarma listed the names of the deceased in his tweet –

Late Dipanjal Senapati (45) of Majuli, Late Kulendra Gohain (51) of Lakhimpur, Late Biren Hazarika (50) of Dibrugarh, Late Gunin Bharali (73) of Golaghat, Late Gulapi Bharali (62) of Sivasagar, Late Rafikuddin Ahmed (70) of Kamrup, Late MD Ali (64) of Chirang, Late Aynal Hoque Miah (61) of Goalpara.

"My condolences to all the families. We stand by you in this hour of grief," he added.
