Assam Minister of State for Health Pijush Hazarika on Tuesday said that the state government is in process to ban plastic bags across the state.

Interacting with reporters in Kharupetia in the sidelines of an event, Hazarika said, "Process to ban the use of plastic has already began and in this connection letters have been sent to all the civic bodies to take necessary steps. We are also going to introduce a Bill in this regard in the next Assembly session."
