Assam-Mizoram border Row: CM Sonowal Speaks to Amit Shah

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal had a telephonic conversation with Union Home Minister Amit Shah to make aware of the ongoing situation in the Assam-Mizoram border.

Earlier, the chief minister also spoke to Mizoram CM Zoramthanga over the border strife that occurred in Cachar in the Assam-Mizoram border.

The chief ministers reached out to resolve the border dispute issues amicably. Taking it to twitter, Sonowal said, "We agreed to maintain the law and order situation of the area so that peace returns immediately," adding," We resolve to work together for maintaining brotherhood between both the states".

Responding to Sonowal, Zoramthanga appreciated the approach of Sonowal and said, "Noble, much awaited approach from a great leader. May this kind intervention brought peace to the region and strengthen our bonds".

Meanwhile, a meeting was held at Deputy Commissioner's office in Silchar to discuss the border tense. Home Commissioner GD Tripathy, ADGP (Border), South Assam DIG Dilip Kumar Dey and DC Kirthi Jolly participated in the meeting and discussed the border row.
