The government will do everything necessary to protect the Barpeta Satra from floods in the next phase, the Minister of water resources in Assam, Pijush Hazarika said on Sunday.

The state minister was at the Bijni constituency in the Chirang district of Assam today where he inspected the erosion caused by the river at several areas.

Hazarika was accompanied by MLA Ajoy Kumar Ray, along with the SP and the EE of PWD Roads in Bijni and other dignitaries, he informed on Twitter.

Discussions were held on the mitigation measures with the officials of the water resources department (WRD), the minister said.

He tweeted, “Inspected erosions caused by river in various areas of Bijni constituency today & discussed the mitigation measures with the officials of WR Dept. MLA Shri Ajay Kr Roy,SP, EE(PWD Roads) & other dignitaries were present.”

In a further tweet, Hazarika said that the water resources department is pouring all efforts to prevent erosion caused by the Beki river in Elengmari in Assam’s Baksa district.

Hazarika said that he visited the area to inspect the installation of geo bags and other measures taken by the department under him.

He was accompanied by Gautam Das, EM of BTC and the GM of KAC Pranab Kumar Barman, Hazarika tweeted.

He wrote, “WR Dept is pouring in all efforts to prevent erosion caused by Beki river in Elengmari,Baksa district. I visited the area to inspect the installation of geo bags & other measures being adopted by Dept. EM,BTC Shri Gautam Das, GM of KAC Shri Pranab Kr Barman accompanied me.”
