Assam son Major Gen. RP Kalita promoted to Lieutenant Gen.

A proud moment for Assam as Major General Rana Pratap Kalita from Rangiya has been promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General in the Indian Army.

Lieutenant General Kalita studied in Sainik School Goalpara of Assam. He was also a student of the National Defence Academy and later was commissioned in the Army in 9th Kumaon Regiment in 1984.

Until now, the Kalita has also served as the BGS (Ops) at 15th Corps, Srinagar, commanded the 19th infantry division, commanded the 13th Rashtriya Rifles and the 71st Infantry Brigade at Lucknow.

The Lieutenant General has been bestowed with Sena Medal, Vishisht Seva Medal and Ati Vishisht Seva Medal for his remarkable contributions.
