Assam’s CRPF jawan killed in Jharkhand encounter

Three Maoists and a CRPF jawan from Assam were killed in an encounter that broke out in Giridih district of Jharkhand on Monday.

The CRPF jawan has been identified as Biswajit Chouhan, who hailed from Barpukhiri village of Assam's Udalguri district. He was a constable at the 7th battalion of the CRPF.

Top officials of the CRPF paid their last respects to Biswajit at Ranchi.

According to officials, the encounter between the two sides took place around 6AM in the forests of Belbha Ghat area of Giridih district when troops of the 7th battalion of the CRPF were undertaking operations.
