Amid thepeace-talk between Centre and United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA), the banon insurgent outfit has been extended by the Centre. The Ministry of HomeAffairs (MHA) has extended the ban for five years.

According to reports, the ban has been extended for continuing subversive activities, including killings, kidnapping, and extortions by the ULFA.

As pera notification issued by the MHA, the ULFA has been indulging in variousillegal and violent activities intended to disrupt the sovereignty andterritorial integrity of India in furtherance of its objective of liberatingAssam.

"Now therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-Section (1) of Section 3 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 (37 of 1967), the Central Government hereby declares the ULFA along with all its factions, wings and front organisations as an unlawful association," the notification said.
