Bharat Ratna Row | Tej told ‘lies’ : Naba Doley

Pratidin Bureau

In a major breakthrough, Cultural Affairs Minister Naba Kumar Doley on Saturday made it clear that Tej Hazarika didn't cooperate with the state government in regard to the preservation of Bhupen Da's 'Bharat Ratna' in museum.

The development comes after the controversy erupted in Assam on the whereabouts of the Bharat Ratna, awarded posthumously to music maestro Bhupen Hazarika.

Sports & Youth Welfare, Cultural Affairs Minister Naba Kumar Doley has told media that "The Assam Government did everything for Bhupen da. CM Sarbananda Sonowal had also urged PM Narendra Modi to bestow him the highest honour of the country (posthumously). Tej was supposed to meet CM Sonowal… and Sonowal was waiting for his arrival, but he didn't come!"

Reacting over the Tej's email, Doley said that Tej Hazarika had told 'lies'.

Earlier, Tez Hazarika gave a hint of that in an official email he had dispatched from Canada following the eruption of the controversy about the whereabouts of the medallion. He clearly said that he was in Assam for 6 days but no one officially approached him for the subject.
