Bhupen Da’s statue to be inaugurated in Arunachal Pradesh

A statue of 'Sudhakantha' Bhupen Hazarika will be inaugurated in Arunachal Pradesh today. The statue is an initiative taken up by the people of Bolung in Assam's neighbouring state.

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu and Assam Power Minister Tapan Gogoi will attend the inauguration ceremony.

The statue has been erected on the land donated by Bhupen Da's childhood friend Gora Pertin's family. The bronze sculpture has been shaped by  famous artist Bhaskar Biren Singh.

Pertin's family has aesthetically preserved the items used by Bhupen Da during his stay in their house.
