Biraj Sarma’s last rites to be performed today

Co-founder of the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) Biraj Sarma passed away on Tuesday. Today, the final rites of the former minister will be held, before which his mortal remains will be taken to various places.

The final journey begins with Chandmari Bihutoli, after which the mortal remains will be taken to Silpukhuri namghar and then to Silpukhuri Bihutoli.

Next, the AGP leader will be taken to the party headquarters in Ambari. Here, the leaders and party workers will pay their tributes to one of the founders of the regional party.

Sarma's body will also be taken to Latashil Field for the people to bid adieu to one of the active participants of the Assam Movement.

Later, the remains will taken to the Swahid Bhawan and Kumar Bhaskar Natya Mandir to pay tributes. Finally, it will be  Navagraha crematorium where the last rites will be held.

It may be noted that he was one of the leading signatories of the Assam Accord.
