Brown Sugar Seized in Barpeta, 1 Arrested

The Barpeta district in Assam has turned into a drug den and in a recent operation, Barpeta police have seized huge amounts of brown sugar from the Bohori area worth around Rs. 35lakhs.

The drugs have been seized in an operation launched by Bohori-Tarabaripolice under the leadership of Jyotish Das. Police also arrested one drugsmuggler, identified as Rofikul Islam.

The police launched the operation after receiving information from an internal source and recovered 607 grams of brown sugar.

Police lodged a complaint against Islam and started an investigation on the incident.

Earlier on October 2, police seized brown sugar worth Rs. 40lakhs andarrested two smugglers named Sarzul Islam and Imran Dewan.
