The film won the Rajat Kamal for the Best Assamese Film at the 66th National Film Awards.

A delightfully balanced, evocative and heartfelt story about a 15-year-old schoolgirl named Bulbul (the thoroughly charming Arnali Das), who is growing up in a remote farming village in Assam.

Bulbul Can Sing is beautifully made by writer, director, producer, and editor Rima Das, and Bulbul's story is endearingly human, following how she and her friends deal with school, relationships, clothes, and families – Bulbul's mother wants her daughter to behave perfectly, while her father hopes she will have a singing career. A generous and warm story of teenage empowerment.
