CAB: Amit Shah to meet NE CMs

Union Home Minister AmitShah will chair a meeting with the chief ministers of North Eastern State regardingthe Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) in New Delhi on November 30.

The discussion will be significantas the next Union Cabinet meeting to be held on December 4 is likely to passthe contentious bill.

It may be mentioned herethat earlier, the CMs of Meghalaya, Nagaland and Mizoram had voiced theiropposition to the CAB before Amit Shah during the NEDA conclave in Guwahati inSeptember. They had claimed that the CAB will change the demography andadversely affect the socio-cultural fabric of the North Eastern region.

Also, people are carryingout massive protests in Assam and other parts of North East against theproposed CAB.
