Assam has been on the boil since the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill was passed in the Lok Sabha on January 8. People across the State has been continuously opposing the Bill by taking every possible way to protest against it.

On Friday black flags were waved at Lakhimpur MP Pradan Baruah at Filobari under Doom Dooma. Several organisations and locals in protest against the BJP government's effort to grant citizenship to non-Muslim illegal immigrants have attached black flags on the vehicle that MP Baruah was travelling in. The protestors shouted slogans like – "BJP go back", "Pradan Baruah Murdabaad".

Notably, black flags were waved at Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal in his assembly constituency, Majuli on Monday, January 14, in protests against the Bill.
