CAB: JD(U) delegation to visit Assam tomorrow

Pratidin Bureau

Amid the ongoing protest against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill in Assam, a delegation of Janata Dal (United) will visit the State on Monday. This was informed by a press statement by the party. Led by Rajya Sabha MP KC Tyagi, the delegation will take stock of the ramifications of the CAB and will meet the organisations opposing the Bill in Assam and other North East States.

Along with Tyagi, party Vice President Prashant Kishor, NSN Lotha and Afaque Ahmad Khan is scheduled to meet the leaders of All Assam Students Union (AASU), Assam Gana Parishad (AGP) and other organizations. Notably, a delegation of AASU had met JD(U) chief Nitish Kumar on 23 May 2018 and had apprised him of their apprehensions regarding the Bill.

The party has decided to oppose the Bill in Rajya Sabha even being an ally of the NDA. The delegation after returning from Assam will brief the JD(U) chief about the situation in the State.
